efek rumah kaca

16 September 1999, I walked into the tiny studio with my green mascara matching my green outfit (please, questions on green mascara won’t be attended).   That was the first day I met Emila, who was a multimedia executive that time, greeted me nonchalantly and showed me my desk at the corner and continued with what ever she was doing that time.  My workstation consist an old PC and one Canon scanner.  My first day went well with not much vivid memories that I can remember.  Blame it on the weed consumption when I was doing my chemotherapy (tipu!).

Emila was my confidante during my stint as multimedia assistant in company X.  Practically my first 2 years of life in Company X was overwhelmed with so much fun and laughter not to mention tears. Eventhough my daily routine in the studio were reading newspaper, scan news, distribute news, sometimes scan pictures for Emila, and sometimes an honorary one such as edit picture in Illustrator to be put in an press ad were a tad boring and repetitive, I was enjoying every moment there because there were so much food involved in the work line (we were in Corporate Communications Dept), traveling to various states for product launches and my favourite was I got to be Emila’s specimen to test lenses, lighting, composition whatever  all the time because she’s handling the camera. *giggle*.  And trust me I got a stack of pictures of some with decent poses and some were ridiculous too.

Oh, I forget to mention that I was quite a hefty woman back then.  See it for yourself. :P

Me at the front like dugong kenyang.

In one of the makan-makan session.

Also in one of the makan-makan session.

And..ehem..makan again.  Dinner at KL Tower Restoran Berputar (whatever they called it) welcoming Guinea delegates.

Road trip.  Masa ni I dah kurus sikit, sebab bencinta, jangan marah.

My hujung-hujung days in Corporate Comm.  They replaced me with someone handsome and experienced (not the guy in the picture.  Obviously dia tak hensem).

Then I was transferred to Special Projects/African Operations Unit in 19th floor.  The department lagi awesome.  Less makan-makan but more traveling.  I cannot elaborate much about my work in Special Projects because this post is about Emila, remember?

I missed Emila’s wedding in March 2002 as I was away in West Africa for 3 months but I was around when she had her first miscarriage.  I was around when she got promoted in her job.  She was around when I met my husband then boyfriend.  In fact she was in the picture all the time.  Hehe.  I was around when she was pregnant with Yassin, and the ending of our close proximity (bukan khalwat, being close physically) is when she had given birth to Yassin on December 2003 where that was the time I took VSS and we led separate ways after that.  We met occasionally catching up old things but things are different when we have commitments like err..family.  We may not be seeing each other often but in our heart we still aware of each other’s existence.

To Emi, I’m not a good story teller, but I really want to make this post because this date really matter to me.  It’s also the date that I entered workinghood.  10 years is quite a long time, ok.  Kalau tanam pokok mangga dah jenuh makan buanhya dah.  Tapi kalau pokok anggur tak pasti plak.  And please bare with the old photos, aku pun gemuks dalam tu.  Cheers to our one decade of relationship.
